How does it work?
The Nondestructive Inspection for Aviation Safety: Ultrasonic Inspections Mobile App allows you to replace your aircraft maintenance paper inspection form with an electronic record, which can be accessed from a smartphone or tablet. This mobile form can be customized to include fields such as facility/location, date started and completed, certificated NDI inspectors, work performed and facility representatives.
Performing the aerospace engineering inspection process with ultrasound equipment reduces wear and tear on the tested airplane. These testing methods are important in a routine industry inspection plan that keeps a fleet in compliance with the safety standards of the aerospace industry.
During an ultrasonic aviation inspection, technicians use sound waves to travel on or through the material. Once the material is successfully scanned, the sound waves return to either the same transducer or a different transducer. An ultrasonic instrument displays the input and returns signals. Differences between the input and output signals are analyzed to determine flaws, corrosion, defects, changes in thickness, and other material characteristics. The received signals are compared to the signals of a reference standard. Usually, a couplant is used between the transducer and material.
Once the mobile app is filled out a secure PDF is generated. The PDF is easy to share, and a copy is stored in your account for your NDT non-destructive testing records.
