The California Certified Appliance Recycler Waste Management Certification app will allow for companies to show proof that before the crushing of any appliances that the materials that require special handling have been removed.

All major appliances including washers, dryers, refrigerators, boilers, furnaces, air conditioners, heaters, and other major appliances must have any hazardous waste removed and properly managed before any recycling can occur.
A DTSC Certified Appliance Recycling facility must provide written proof that the materials that require special handling have been properly removed and list the type of facility the materials were sent to. Prior to any major appliance being crushed, shredded, sawed, sheared, or processed in any other manner the form must be completed and sent to the facility.
