Completing a phlebotomy program to become a phlebotomy technician will require students to complete phlebotomy classes, clinical rotations, and final approval from their instructor.

The student should be well versed in phlebotomy procedures, patient care, self and patient safety, anatomy and physiology, blood collection and infection control. A national phlebotomy training program will often require an instructor to document their student's ability in one place so they can receive their certification.
