Fieldwork is defined as direct experience in organizing or leading recreation-related programs, and can be a paid or unpaid experience. Students can use the Recreation Program Fieldwork Requirements and Log app to track fieldwork hours and activities. Fieldwork is like on-the-job training. The purpose is to widen the student’s career horizons, to provide the student with practical experience in recreation prior to the internship, to enable students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations, and to broaden the student’s background.
