Construction Safety Cell Phones Weekly Tailgate Topic (Canada)

A number of safety concerns have risen due to the increasing rate of accidents caused by distracted driving while operating cars and construction vehicles. Following new safety rules, this app reminds workers that cell phones must be kept inside their vehicle while they are working on a construction job site. Due to the multiple hazards of construction work, it’s bad form to talk on your phone while you’re working. As concern over safety issues on the worksite increase, these standards focus on keeping an employee’s attention on their job.

The goal of the app is to increase safety practices in the work environment and eliminate workplace injuries. Since we often use phones casually, we forget what an imminent danger distraction can be on a construction site. With proper training, every employee can practice this safety program and ultimately reduce workers' compensation and other injury costs.
