Device-day denominator data that are collected differ according to the location of the patients being monitored; however, they should be collected at the same time each day. For locations other than specialty care areas (SCAs) and NICUs, the number of patients with one or more central lines of any type is collected daily, at the same time each day, during the month and recorded on the Denominators for Intensive Care Unit mobile app. Only the totals for the month are entered into NHSN.
