Device-day denominator data that are collected differ according to the location of the patients being monitored; however, they should be collected at the same time each day. For locations other than specialty care areas (SCAs) and NICUs, the number of patients with one or more central lines of any type is collected daily, at the same time each day, during the month and recorded on the Denominators for Intensive Care Unit mobile app. Only the totals for the month are entered into NHSN. This app can also be used as part of NHSN training within a primary care facility. This app can be downloaded to an iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
Proper use of this tool will ensure that all life-sustaining treatment protocols are efficiently met. It can be used within every emergency department and urgent care section. All primary care reports are saved in the GoCanvas Cloud and can be printed or emailed as a PDF if you need to share it with others.
