HUD Inspection Form - Section 8 - Connecticut Mobile App
The HUD Inspection Form mobile app simplifies the process of renting to low-income families who are part of the Section 8 housing voucher program.
How does it work?
Instead of filling out paper inspection forms to ensure that low income housing meets the requirements of the housing assistance program, low-income housing inspectors and property owners can now generate an electronic form from their smartphone or tablet. The app covers inspections of the building exterior, plumbing and heating systems, exits and hallways, and each room to ensure that each area is safe, clean and habitable. With this handy checklist for housing quality standards developed by HUD, you'll have a simple way to complete inspections of single-family homes and public housing as required to qualify for Section 8 status, making it possible to rent to individuals and family's who are part of the rental subsidy program in your area.
In order to rent to a Section 8 tenant in Connecticut, your house or apartment must be inspected to make sure it meets the housing standards of the program. Using the app, public housing inspectors are prompted to examine the exterior of the building, the plumbing and heating systems, the exits and hallways, and each room to make sure the unit is safe, clean and in good condition. Users can also add comments and customize the app to meet their needs. To ensure that the property passes the requirements of the rental assistance program, the unit must be vacant at the time of the first inspection, and all utilities must be turned on. If any items fail inspection, they can be noted for later review.
