The operator of a mine must ensure the provision of effective earthing at the mine, including the following: the minimisation of risk from touch, transfer or step potential, the prevention of the effects of lightning being transferred to the underground parts of the mine, and the limitation of the magnitude of earth fault currents to poly phase electrical installations that supply mobile plant fed via flexible trailing or reeling cables and to electrical plant in the underground parts of the mine. Persons are to have appropriate electrical qualifications.
The app includes: Main (or System) earth (point of connection), Mine earth, Mine structure lightning earthing arrangements (winders, conveyor structures, lightning protection arrangements), General requirements, Compliance to Wiring Rules, Maintenance of Plant and Maintenance Records.
