Skills Checklist for Pediatric Immunization

Using the checklist, health care staff will review competency areas such as clinical skills, vaccination techniques, and procedures. With the app, staff can indicate competency levels in areas including parent education, medical protocols, vaccine handling, administering vaccines, and keeping immunization records. For example, within the administering vaccines competency, indicators range from appropriately prepping the site for the vaccination to comforting the patient before, during, and after the procedure. The app user will indicate a need for improvement or meet/exceeds expectations. A supervisor can make observations and record a brief plan of action. Additionally, supervisors can use the checklist to clarify responsibilities and expectations for health care staff who administer child vaccinations. This app will help health care facilities to promote vaccine safety and provide quality patient care when childhood vaccinations are administered.
