Trees can also block escape routes during an emergency, or block roads to the general public. Since the removal of a dead tree can be risky, stewardship practices dictate that a risk management assessment must be conducted before starting work. Proper training and education are required for these specialized workers who must follow Forestry & Logging Guidelines. The Felling and Manual Takedown - IFSG 302 (Ireland) Mobile App will guide the operator through the risk assessment. This software builds electronic records that replace paper forms that can be accessed in the field with a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet.

Workers will need to notify private landowners, land managers, and commercial landowners before they begin work. They should check all tools, including chainsaw, felling lever, tree cutter, wedges, and other tree cutting/tree felling equipment to make certain they are in good shape and well maintained. The operator should also confirm he or she has the proper safety gear and adequate clearance for the tree to fall without harming anyone or anything. They will need to make sure they do not cut the tree in the wrong direction, or it may cause damage. Additionally, they should have a path of egress if they need to quickly get out of the area where a tree is falling. Once the tree is felled, it's important to remove the timber quickly to open up traffic and pedestrian flow.

We all love trees in their natural settings, such as in a forest, but we are responsible for them in an urban setting and government stewardship practices and programs are there to care for the land and keep everyone safe. Additional educational programs could teach the public about plant and tree placement and care. This app generates a report in PDF form that can be forwarded to a supervisor, local governments, and natural resource management divisions when required. A copy is stored in your GoCanvas account for your records. It allows you to follow-up on the status of corrective actions and work orders.

Don't take our word for it...

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
