6s Audit Checklist Mobile App
Many manufacturing facilities are adopting a lean manufacturing program called 6S.
How does it work?
The 6S method involves safety, sorting, stabilize, shine, standardize and sustain. The 6S Audit Checklist app goes through each principle in detail and allows a user to rate themselves in that area. For the sort activity, users should make sure their work area only includes tools, paperwork, furniture or equipment needed for their job. To set their work area in order, employees should organize the equipment, tools, furniture and other resources in clearly defined or labeled areas. To make their spaces shine, employees should make sure their work area and tools are clean and organized, and schedule a regular time to clean their space. Standardizing a space will mean that tools, paperwork and other materials will have a clear and defined location where they belong. Sustaining activities will encourage employees to maintain these habits and allow for continuous improvement over time. Safety activities will encourage workers to have easy access to personal protective equipment as needed, have emergency equipment displayed, and promote a clean environment free of obstructions. After conducting this internal audit, employees will be able to identify areas they need to focus on and strive to improve in each area over time. The management team should support this effort by allowing workers to dedicate time to this process on a regular basis.
