The Silica Exposure Control Plan applies to all employees who are exposed to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) at or above the permissible exposure limit, as determined by Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). This mobile app allows employers to replace their paper OSHA form with an electronic record created from a handheld mobile device, like a smartphone or tablet.

One of the occupational safety hazards of abrasive blasting, hydraulic fracturing, and grinding and drilling stone is the release of crystalline silica dust. When inhaled, these tiny particles can be detrimental to a worker's health. High silica dust exposure can cause silicosis, lung cancer, kidney failure, and other serious diseases. A proper exposure control plan that follows OSHA’s guidelines will decrease occupational exposure to silica dust and make a safer workplace. This control plan is designed to increase workplace safety in the construction industry. This app can make an inventory of equipment in a work area that could inadvertently produce respirable silica. The list includes stationary masonry saws, handheld power saws, dowel drilling rigs for concrete, jackhammers, and handheld powered chipping tools and crushing machines.

It also can be optimized to catalog practices that follow OSHA standards to provide workers with respiratory protection against high levels of crystalline silica exposure. Some dust controls include the use of a respirator and air monitoring equipment that tracks airborne crystalline silica.

In the event that an employee becomes exposed to dangerous levels of silica exposure on the job, construction employers are required to follow protocol, which may include a medical examination, workers' compensation claim and a change in work practice controls.

Once the mobile app is filled out a secure PDF is generated. The PDF is easy to share, and a copy is stored in your account for your safety and health records. You can also use the App Builder to personalize and customize this mobile form.

Don't take our word for it...

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
