The employer must adhere to child labor laws by ensuring the youth is not working in hazardous occupations, that the hours of employment will not conflict with the school day and limited to a maximum number of hours per week, and that the student will be paid minimum wage. The minor may need to provide proof of age, such as a certificate of age or a birth certificate, to be permitted to work.
