The EPA established the federal regulations surrounding the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) which created a program to manage hazardous wastes from generators of the waste to disposal at landfill sites. The objective of the program is to ensure that hazardous waste is handled in a manner that safeguards human health and the environment from hazardous substances. The RCRA hazardous waste compliance monitoring program works in conjunction with the Agency's hazardous waste compliance assistance activities as well as the RCRA civil enforcement program. The state of Texas has adopted the RCRA guidelines through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. An important component of the enforcement process is the authority to monitor a hazardous waste facility for verification of compliance with the regulations. The Agency collects compliance monitoring information primarily through facility inspections and information requests. One such methodology is the use of compliance evaluation inspections (CEI). CEIs are an on-site evaluation of a hazardous waste handler's compliance with RCRA regulations and permit standards. The purpose of the CEI is to gather information necessary to determine compliance and support enforcement actions related to hazardous waste disposal.

Some of the most common industrial hazardous wastes include chemical solvents, sludge, metals, batteries, ash, paints, sandpaper, paper products, industrial by-products, metals, and radioactive wastes (such as those in smoke detectors, or more substantial radiological waste products). The Texas Industrial Hazardous Waste CEI General Facility Checklist app is crucial for any hazardous waste management plan. The app outlines important RCRA regulations and waste disposal requirements. The Texas Industrial Hazardous Waste CEI General Facility Checklist app organizes relevant requirements and regulations in the following sections: General Site Information and Unauthorized Discharges, Hazardous Waste Determination and Notification, Recordkeeping and Reporting: Manifest System, Recordkeeping and Reporting: Waste Activities, Preparedness and Prevention, Contingency Plan and Emergency Procedures, and Personnel Training. The app can help any facility pass inspection with the thorough guidelines provided, as well as store comments and scoring from inspectors. The app can record inspector notes and indicate items that need corrective action.

Don't take our word for it...

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
