Sawdust or wood dust is composed of tiny wood particles that can cause adverse effects including dermatitis, allergic respiratory, mucosal and non-allergic effects, and cancer. Exposure and contact with the fine dust can also produce asthma, pneumonitis, and chronic bronchitis. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified wood dusts as carcinogenic to humans and that a rare form of nasal cavity cancer (adenocarcinoma) can be linked to inhalation of wood dust. The Wood Dust Toolbox Talk (UK) app specifies that both hardwood and softwood dust particles have a Workplace Exposure Limit (WEL) of 5mg/m3 which must not be exceeded. These are limits placed on the amount of dust in the air, averaged over an eight-hour working day. However, exposure to wood dust should be reduced to as low as ‘reasonably practicable’.

Don't take our word for it...

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
