According to the PUWER Toolbox Talk (UK) app, equipment which is used by an employee at work is covered by this legislation. Examples include hammers, knives, ladders, drilling machinery, power presses, circular saws, photocopiers, lifting equipment (including fork-lifts), bumper trucks and motor vehicles. Employees who provide their own equipment will be covered by PUWER. Equipment regulations require equipment inspection. Safety and risks with tools and equipment arise through improper use or inadequate maintenance, ultimately resulting in damaged and dangerous equipment. Every tool or piece of equipment has a specific use and most incidents can be avoided by using the correct tool for the job. Electrical appliances pose a higher risk when they are not used in the correct way or have damaged plugs or cords. All electrical appliances used on construction sites must be 110v or battery powered to reduce the risk of electric shock when used in this type of situation. All electrical tools and equipment must be identified and registered, and are subject to regular inspection and testing to maintain that they are safe for use.

Don't take our word for it...

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
