Mining machine operators may engage in many different activities and machinery use including operating self-propelled mining machines that rip coal, metal and nonmetal ores, rock, stone, or sand from the mine face and load it onto conveyors or into shuttle cars in a continuous operation, or machinery such as a crusher, a haul truck, an excavator, a grinding machine, longwall shears, plows, and cutting machines.
