How does it work?
The audit checklist evaluates whether or not a local authority has a documented complaint procedure in place; that the ability to levy complaints is available to the public; that the authority tracks and keeps records of complaints as well actions responding to complaints; and whether complaints were properly investigated. An investigator or auditor evaluating a local authority's complaint procedures can check complaint forms, follow up with people or companies that have had to file a complaint; check agency performance in responding to complaints; and evaluating investigations and cases that took place.
