Energy Efficiency Heritage Building (Canada) Mobile App
The Energy Efficiency Heritage Building app is a checklist form that is used to help evaluate bringing an existing building up to contemporary standards of energy efficiency.
How does it work?
Having an energy efficient building is important to reduce energy consumption and to increase energy savings. The main components this checklist covers includes air sealing, heating systems, insulation, weatherstripping, windows, and doors. Buildings with poor insulation, old air conditioning or heating systems, poorly closing doors and windows, or other problems will lose cool air in warm temperatures, and lose warm air in cold temperatures. Ultimately, this is detrimental to the energy performance of the building, which increases energy use, costs, and greenhouse gas emissions. This app can be used for commercial buildings, residential buildings, and should be a part of a comprehensive energy audit and green building initiatives.
