Confined spaces can create a hazardous atmosphere for employees/workers or personnel in that confined space, all of which are made worse by injury. Hazards that normally may not be particularly dangerous are amplified by virtue of the confined space. The hazards that pose a risk, what safety and personal protective equipment is needed, and additional training is required. By conducting a hazard assessment while treating an injury, and being aware of potential hazards such as claustrophobia, inhalation of chemicals/toxins, asphyxiation, and potential death, individuals that may in a confined space can be aware of rescue procedures, addressing or recognizing a lack of oxygen, and how to handle dangerous chemicals in the enclosed area such as flammable gas.
