The purpose of the Hazardous Materials Incident Response Procedure: Safe Distances and Refuge
How does it work?
mobile app is to provide guidance for developing an emergency response plan, as outlined in OSHA’s 29 CFR 1910.120(q), for facility response. This app has been adopted and applied to work for response to transportation accidents involving radioactive material or other hazardous materials incidents. The procedures apply to those personnel who have responsibilities. Furthermore, this procedure is intended for use on any response involving actual or potential radiological or other hazardous material release.
Upon evaluation of known and suspected potential hazards, personal protective equipment shall be selected and documented using the app. NOTE: Only the Incident Commander or the Safety Officer has the authority to change the type of personal protective equipment to be used during the incident.
