They are also referred to as large goods vehicles.

The Heavy Goods Vehicle Inspection: Spray Suppression, Wings and Wheel Arches mobile app helps staff with annual testing of heavy goods vehicles. This app was designed to help drivers and inspectors of large commercial vehicles to verify that the vehicle is in sufficient condition for road transport and is up-to-date with legal standards for roadworthiness. It must be emphasized that these are minimum acceptable standards, which do not necessarily allow for further deterioration when the vehicle is in service.

For example, road wheels must have associated with them equipment or part of the body which, catches mud or water thrown up by the wheels as they rotate. You must check that the wing covers the whole width of the tire especially where wide “Super Single” tires are fitted to the front axle. A trailer used for or in connection with the carriage of round timber does not require the fitment of wings.

This inspection is applicable to all vehicles and trailers. The app is in the form of a customizable template, therefore, you may add more to the inspection as needed.

Don't take our word for it...

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
