Greenhouse Gas Protocol: Comparing Methane Commitment to First Order Decay Method Mobile App
The Greenhouse Gas Protocol: Comparing Methane Commitment to First Order Decay Method mobile app compares methane emissions with CH4 emissions in order to measure the greenhouse gases found in landfills.
Features
How does it work?
The app looks at the organic matter found in landfill gases and volatile solids and compares the data with organic waste disposal and landfill gas emissions
If conditions are constant, the rate of CH4 production depends solely on the amount of carbon remaining in the waste. As a result, CH4 emissions are highest in the first few years after waste is initially deposited in a disposal site, then gradually decline as the degradable carbon in the waste is consumed by the bacteria responsible for the decay.
