EPA’s regulations, all wastes generated from a business must be evaluated to see if they are hazardous or not. If your company generates a hazardous waste, you are required to manage and dispose of that waste according to hazardous waste regulations. If your company generates more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of hazardous waste in any month, you must obtain a generator identification number from EPA. A permit is not required to generate hazardous waste. A permit is only needed if a company wants to treat, store or dispose of hazardous waste. All hazardous waste must be sent to a permitted hazardous waste facility for treatment or disposal.
