Mold exposure can cause serious negative health impacts on the occupants of a building.
How does it work?
Often times, preventing mold is as simple as making sure moisture prevention strategies are undertaken before construction, during construction, and after the construction of a building. The Moisture Prevention Inspection Checklist: Pre-Construction, Ongoing Construction, and Post-Construction app is a tool that helps to support maintaining safe premises, practices, operations and equipment as it relates to moisture exposure in a building. The checklist does not cover all possible hazardous conditions or unsafe acts or conditions that may exist, but is helpful in addressing mold before it becomes a mold problem or mold infestation. The app prompts users to ensure that interior materials are kept dry prior to, during, and after construction and prompts users to make sure they report water damage or leaks that occur during construction to the right people. The different phases of construction pose different problems for mold to appear - if building materials get wet and are not properly dried, a mold problem may already be underway before construction begins. After construction, it is important to evaluate water leaks, condensation or wet spots, and more. This app can help a mold assessor or other individual during the mold inspection process to proactively avoid moisture which most often leads to mold problems.
