All confined animals that die MUST be tested for rabies; the animal’s head should be sent immediately to the New Jersey Department of Health, Rabies Laboratory. Rabies is a viral infection of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) that can affect all warm-blooded animals. The virus is excreted in the saliva of an infected animal (usually a raccoon, fox, skunk, groundhog, dog or cat), and is transmitted by a bite or by contamination of open (i.e., bleeding within the past 24 hours) wounds or mucous membranes with saliva or central nervous system tissue (brain and spinal cord), from an infected animal. Rabies in humans can be prevented by the administration of rabies immune serum and vaccine after a bite or exposure from a known or suspect a rabid animal has occurred. Once signs and symptoms of an illness appear (usually 2 to 12 weeks following the bite), however, there is no cure or treatment for the disease. The New Jersey Notice of Bite and Confinement of Animal mobile app allows you to replace your paper notice to appear with a handheld device. The mobile form includes fields to document items such as species, license number, sex, the person is bitten and confinement. Once the mobile app is filled out a secure PDF is generated. The PDF is easy to share, and a copy is stored in your account for your animal control records. You can also use the App Builder to personalize and customize this mobile form.

Don't take our word for it...

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
