What is Workflow?
Workflow is a powerful feature that allows an organization to move inefficient processes over to mobile devices. Paper forms are especially slow to move around an organization; Especially when they are being filled out by mobile workers that are either out in the field, working in other offices, or working from home. Emails lack functionality to capture signatures, GPS coordinates, conduct calculations, and more. Workflow from Canvas is highly customizable to accomodate virtually any internal process you're looking to streamline.
Canvas's Workflow feature can be enabled on any Canvas Application whether you build it with our powerful App Builder, we build it, or you download it from our Application Store. A user can start filling out a Canvas Application and then pass it along to a colleague who either needs to review the data and/or fill out another section of the Application. If necessary, you can allow the second user to reject it back to the orginal user with comments. Push notifications notify users each step of the way.
When creating a Workflow with Canvas you insert handoffs at any point inside of the application. You can insert as many handoffs as you need. At each handoff you would configure who you want to route your data to next. You can force it to go to one specific user or allow your user to choose from a list of users that you specify. There is also the ability to create logic within the Canvas Application so it routes to a user based on data that has been captured already. For example, if there is a major violation of safety rules captured during an inspection then that could trigger a Workflow to route it directly to a supervisor. The supervisor would receive a notification on her device and can immediately take action to address the situation.
Your account must be on the Professional plan in order to have access to Workflow. To change your plan, click on My Home>My Account>Change. Click on Change next to your name first in order to convert your entire account over to the Professional plan. You must have "Admin" privileges in order to change your Plan.
