Business Improvement Districts Go Mobile – Featured GoCanvas Subscriber

A business improvement district (BID) is a defined area within which businesses pay an additional tax or fee in order to fund improvements within the district’s boundaries. BIDs may go by other names, such as business improvement area, business revitalization zone, community improvement district, special services area, or special improvement district. BIDs provide services, such as cleaning streets, providing security, making capital improvements, and marketing the area. The services provided by BIDs are supplemental to those already provided by the municipality.

With this new service comes increased demands and reporting. GoCanvas is helping one such city meet these increased demands and in turn energized a new GoCanvas partner to focus on taking this nationwide.

Subscriber Snap Shot:  This organization has field personnel all over a major city in the Northeast. Their job? To report potholes in streets, graffiti on the side of buildings, identify street lights that are burned out…they even contact local authorities if they find themselves in close proximity to a fender-bender in a major intersection. With GoCanvas they can collect all of this essential information so the proper city branches can respond in real-time.  Users can collect key information take pictures, grab the actual time of events and more all from their Smartphone or Tablet.

Prior to GoCanvas, they would use cellphones and clipboards to collect and communicate this information.
