You’ve done the research: you know it’s time for your construction business to make the switch to mobile apps. You’re ready to save time and money (helping the environment is a nice bonus too). So how do you get started in an efficient and easy way?

Here are a few tips to help you get started.

Tip # 1 Browse our Application Store

GoCanvas has worked with construction companies of all shapes and sizes before. That experience has given us an application store full of options that work for thousands of businesses. Take a look to see what companies have used previously. You may find exactly what you’re looking for, ready to use!

Even if you don’t find the perfect fit, our store can still help. Any app from our store can be edited. Rather than build your perfect app from scratch, start with one that’s 60 or even 80 percent of the way there. You’ll get your perfect app faster and easier.

Tip # 2 Test & Evaluate Your App

We recommend a week or two for this. Sure, that can seem like a lot of time, but it works out the kinks in your app before you go full force. Give yourself a defined amount of time. That way, you don’t stop early or go on forever.

Before you get started, what do you need to have a successful app? Write down your list of criteria. This should include any problems or issues GoCanvas needs to solve. This will be helpful when you evaluate your app at the end.

Choosing testers: You’ll want at least two people, with differing levels of tech know-how. A range of technical ability helps ensure that your entire team can use the app. By having one technical person and one that is the complete opposite, you will cover your bases.

To begin, add your testers to your trial account, (they’ll also receive free trials). Before the start date, equip them with the GoCanvas app. Provide clear instructions about how often they should use the apps.

After a week of testing, gather feedback and review the data. Make changes that will improve the user experience. These could include a text box field to a drop-down with values for them to choose from.  Then, test it all again to make sure you’re changes are working as planned.

Now, pull out that criteria list from the beginning. Check it against your trial period. Did you achieve most, if not all on your list? If so, you can go full steam ahead with GoCanvas!
