The goal of this article will be to walk through signing up for GoCanvas, customizing a simple QC app which captures some simple information (first name and last name) and a signature, filling out the app on a device (could be an android device or ios device, doesn't matter) and how to view the results.
Step 1 – Sign Up for GoCanvas
If you aren't already a GoCanvas subscriber, get GoCanvas free today. This is the first step to create your own QA/QC apps.
Step 2 – Install GoCanvas App on Your Mobile Device
Once you sign up for GoCanvas you should receive an email with a download link for your mobile device or mobile phone. If you didn't get the email, you can always open the browser on your mobile device and download it directly from there. Go to http://www.gocanvas.com/m to download GoCanvas.
Step 3 – Login to the GoCanvas website using your desktop computer
Login to the GoCanvas website with your username (email address) and password on your desktop computer so you can start to create an app. For this example, we'll show you how to customize a quality control template from our Application Store.
Step 4 – Find and Add the Quality Control Template to your GoCanvas Account
In the top navigation scroll over to the “Application Store” tab and select your industry or press “View All Apps.” Once you are in the application store, search for the form type “Quality Control” to be prompted to a list of quality control app templates.
For the purposes of this demonstration, we will select the app named “Quality Control Inspection Checklist Mobile App.”
After you click into the app select the top button “Get App” to have the template added to your account.
Step 5: Locate App
After you press the “Get App” button the mobile quality control form has been added to your account. In your account find the app titled “Quality Control Inspection Checklist Mobile App” and click on it.
After clicking on the app name it will bring you to the app’s settings page. This page is where you can manage who gets access etc, but for now, you will just click the “Edit App” button in the top right corner.
Step 6: Customize Your App
Once you’ve launched the app builder with our Quality Control Inspection template you can customize the app to be your own. On the left-hand side of your screen you will see different field options you can include in your application. Simply drag a field onto the app to add it to the form.
To change or edit the order of the fields, drag the fields on the app up or down to fit your preference.
To edit the field itself, click on the field you would like to update and the “Field Settings” bar will appear on the left. Within the field settings bar you can remove a field, rename, change the field type, make the field required and much more.
Step 7: Save and publish your GoCanvas quality control app
Once you are satisfied with your quality control app click the “Publish to Device” button found at the top right-hand side of the screen. Once the GoCanvas app builder has finished saving, you will be prompted to set up which users on your account you wish to assign the app to. These people will all get push notifications letting them know there is a new app available for them.
Step 8 – Fill out the 'Quality Control Inspection Checklist' app
Fill out the 'Quality Control Inspection Checklist' application and once done, click 'Yes' to upload your submission.
Step 9 – View your data online
If you logged out of the GoCanvas website, log in again and click on the 'Submissions' tab. You will find the data you just filled out on your mobile device. You can now view it online, download it as a PDF, export it as a CSV/Excel file, or integrate it into a backend system.
Once a submission is made a pdf version will be readily available. You can change how the PDF looks by using the PDF Designer tool.
