Finding ways to cut costs and create more efficient process is huge for businesses both large and small. Many have already seen the benefits that mobile apps, especially those for data collection, have for business. For example, Demmer estimates that they saved $1 million just last year by going mobile.

Still, enterprises hesitate when they hear the words mobile app builder. There's some reason to it. Here are 5 mobile app builder myths every enterprise business needs to know.

Myth # 1: Building a custom mobile app is expensive

This idea is based on real world experiences. AnyPresence did a survey of IT professionals in 2013. When asked about the initial cost of mobile app development, over half said they spent over more than $50,000, while a quarter reported spending over $100,000.

Going with a mobile enterprise application platform (MEAP) can also be pricey. Many of the companies that offer these services don't even provide pricing on their websites. Quotes historically have been in the tens of thousands of dollars. Cheaper than a custom platform, but still quite expensive.

However, there is a third option that competes with these. There are now subscription based mobile app builders. For a small monthly price, enterprise companies can create custom apps for their company. At GoCanvas, subscriptions start at $20 a month per user. This gives enterprises access to a powerful mobile app builder. Creating perfectly tailored mobile apps for an enterprise doesn't have to be expensive.

Myth #2: It's costly to update or edit apps

Beyond the costs of initial creating mobile apps, enterprises have found it expensive. Forrester recently found that initial creation of mobile app is just 35% of the true two year cost. Needs change, and in a rapidly changing economy, updating mobile apps is a necessity.

At GoCanvas, updating mobile apps is a painless process. Companies can edit and update their apps as often as they would like at no additional cost. In addition, it's easy to send updates to hundreds of users in real time. When a mobile app is published, it can be sent to hundreds of users immediately. They'll receive a notification on their smartphone or tablet.

Major enterprises have not only used this system, but succeeded with it. A large American telecom company has found it easy to maintain and update their mobile apps for their regional sales groups. Updating and maintaining mobile apps takes these companies minutes, and takes away no additional revenue.

Myth # 3: Building mobile apps will demand IT staff time and resources

The same study done by AnyPresence asked IT professionals how much time it took to develop their mobile app. Over half spent three months. Kevin Benedict, Senior Analyst at Cognizant revealed that the "traditional approach to mobile app development... takes 6 + months for a single app."

Collecting data efficiently is useless unless you can integrate with your other information.

We also provide API webservices to help large organizations seamlessly integrate GoCanvas with their own systems. However you need the data, it's possible with GoCanvas.

Myth #5: Using a mobile app will require a costly investment in new hardware

Some mobile app builders only work with certain smartphone or tablet platforms, or a specific device. Not only does this restrict an enterprise company's technology, it requires massive investment in new technology on top of a costly platform.

Yet, there are mobile app builders that work not only across smartphones and tablets but also multiple platforms. GoCanvas, for instance, works across Android, iOS, Blackberry, and even some Windows devices. Enterprise businesses with GoCanvas use both rugged and non-rugged devices, as well as tablets or smartphones, with a similar user experience. Because users login to use GoCanvas, it's easy for large businesses to change devices, and maintain access to the mobile app.

Many enterprises have struggled to embrace mobile app builders for these reasons. GoCanvas, however, exists as an affordable, flexible, easy-to-use option that can streamline processes and save your business thousands of dollars this year alone.
