Publish the App

Our app is pretty much done, so let's publish it now. We can always make updates later. To publish the app, click the "Save" button, then select "Save, Close and Publish".

Canvas will save the app and ask who is going to receive it. The publishing page lists all the users in our account. So far, only Joe Comfie has signed up, so he'll publish it to himself so he can test the app.

Now that we have published the app, you can see it's status on the My Apps page is set to Published. Whenever Joe Comfie signs into Canvas from his smartphone, he'll have access to the Sales Order app. In fact, he'll automatically get the latest version of the Sales Order app that has been published. He doesn't need to do any software upgrades on his smartphone. Canvas handles it all over the air.

When Joe adds more users to his account, he can check the box next to the name of each user who should receive the app.

Organizations with lots of users can set up groups. Comfie Heating & Air Conditioning would probably want two groups: Sales and Service. Sales people would be in the sales group, and they would get apps like the Sales Order or a quotation app. Service technicians could be in the service group, and they could get apps for work orders, inspections and parts requisitions.
