Canvas Launches Version 1.7 – Extends Device Support and Capabilities

Latest version of Canvas includes mobile application support for Microsoft based Netbooks, Laptops and PC’s, along with advanced features like calculated fields.

Herndon, VA – September 3, 2009 – Canvas announced today it had released version 1.7 of its unique solution and in turn was extending support for Microsoft based Netbooks, Laptops and PC’s along with adding advanced features like calculated fields and advanced group capabilities to it’s mobile form, survey creation and publishing tool.

“We have seen a growing need for supporting mobile devices beyond Smartphones and with this release Canvas is doing just that by supporting one of the fastest growing class of mobile devices – Netbooks.” stated Matt Warner, VP of Mobility and Co-Founder of Canvas. IDC has recently reported that worldwide shipments of sub-compact portable computers have grown seven-fold year-over-year and that by the end of the year Netbook shipments could reach 22 million units.

Canvas also announced that this release incorporated other popular feature requests including calculated fields which will make it possible to remove the need for mobile workers to manually calculate sales orders, work orders and many other popular forms many of which currently reside in the growing Canvas Library. Canvas also released the ability for organizations to manage an ecosystem of mobile users creating groups of users for specific mobile forms or surveys. “This feature opens up the powerful capability for Canvas users to send different forms and surveys to different users – within the same company you can have workers filling out service and sales forms as well as have their customers fill out customer surveys or contracts.” stated Chris Morrisette, VP of Web Experience.
