Wireless Industry Veterans Form Canvas
Over 40 Years and Hundred’s of Thousands of Mobile Users Deployed; Executives Come Together to Form Canvas in an Effort to Provide an Easy, Rapid, Self Serve Mobile Environment To Proactively Replace Costly Paper Based Forms and Surveys.
Herndon, VA – November 21, 2008 – A team of wireless solution veterans today announced the formation of Canvas Solutions Inc. Their mission in forming Canvas – to help organizations and prosumers save money on costly paper based process such as forms and surveys through the use of Smartphones including iPhones, Windows Mobile Smartphones, BlackBerries and others.
“We were compelled to form Canvas – customers, partners and the industry as a whole have been asking for ways to make mobility easier, more affordable and quicker to deploy. Solutions trying to solve this have been complex or targeted toward a very specific industry and always required a client to calculate their ROI before purchasing” said James Quigley CEO of Canvas adding “We wanted to create a solution that targeted the heart of the issue – the paperwork.”
“When Canvas is released, customer’s will be able to create, publish, analyze and share results collected on Smartphones versus having to use clipboards.” said Marc Austin COO of Canvas adding “and with our unique delivery model customers can pay per use or choose a unlimited priced model. Either way the solution is in many cases cheaper than the cost of the paper it is replacing.”
“We imagine an environment where any user regardless of skill set can quickly and easily jump in and use our tools to recreate the paper they are using today and then publish that out to a mobile device” said Matt Warner V.P of Mobility an industry leading software developer whose development team won the Motorola Wireless Solution of the Year when he was most recently the lead mobility architect for a division of VeriSign.
The Canvas team comes with a solid background in the mobile and wireless space having been involved in nearly a dozen mobile/software start-ups as well as larger organizations such as AT&T, VeriSign, United Technologies, Rockwell, Transamerica Finance and Circuit City. Canvas version 1.0 will be launching early in 2009 with the fully interactive version 2.0 launching in August of 2009. Canvas intends to complete funding of their series A round in the first quarter of 2009.
